Judge grants custody of Zoey Belcher to mother’s cousin

Custody-awarded--Zoey-Belcher

The custody of former Kansas City Chief player Jovan Belcher‘s daughter, Zoey has been determined. Belcher murdered his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins and then shot himself seven months ago. A Missouri judge has appointed the cousin of Kasandra Perkins, Sophie D. Perkins as the legal guardian of nine-month old Zoey.

Jovan’s mother, Cheryl Shepherd attempted to get custody but was denied. Shepard was living with the couple at the time of the murder/suicide. Zoey is set to inherit Jovan’s estate – valued at $799,119.85. She also receives $1,000,000 from the NFL and $1.2 million from a life insurance policy.
