Jaguars rookie Justin Blackmon arrested for aggravated DUI

I’ve never heard of an “aggravated DUI” but apparently it exists and Jacksonville Jaguars rookie, Justin Blackmon was arrested for it this morning.

Blackmon, the fifth pick in this year’s draft, was arrested in Stillwater near where he played his college football career, Oklahoma State. He was booked into jail around 10:22 AM by the Payne County Sheriff.

According to Oklahoma law, aggravated DUI applies to drivers with a .15 or higher blood alcohol level.

This would not be Blackmon’s first DUI arrest. He was arrested in Texas in 2010 and suspended one game by his coach.

**update** more details have emerged

Officers pulled over a white Chevrolet Tahoe for driving 60 mph in a 35 mph zone and driving left of center, according to a police report. The driver, Blackmon, stopped in a gas station parking lot near McElroy Road and Perkins Road after failing to yield to the driver for about four blocks, the report says.

Blackmon, according to Stillwater officer Jeff Dillon, was unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech and had glassy, bloodshot eyes.  He reportedly admitted consuming alcohol prior to driving.  No other occupants were in the vehicle.

He was then arrested and taken to the Stillwater City Jail, where he agreed to take a breath test.  The result was .24, according to the report.

Not a great way to roll into your rookie year. I know, “Captain Obvious” but sometimes you just have to SAY IT. I mean really, how do you blow a .24?? Doesn’t that effectively mean his blood stream was alcohol?

Have rookies signed their deals yet?
