Flashback Friday: 1996 Lakers love triangle with Sedale Threatt, Dr. Dre & Nicole

In honor of “Flashback Friday” – that’s like throwback Thursday but on Friday – I’m going to drop a bit of throwback “tea.” The last time the Los Angeles Lakers had a team that didn’t include Kobe Bryant was the 1995-1996 season. That team was full of young gunners that while fun to watch didn’t get many wins. Lakers_1995_1996 Some of the names on that team included, Nick Van Exel, Eddie Jones – who was later moved to make room for an emerging Kobe Bryant, Cedric Ceballos – remember Ced won the dunk contest in 1992 with a blind fold dunk, Corie Blount – he eventually went on to end up in jail after getting busted with 29 pounds of weed and Sedale Threatt. sedale-threatt You know I always remind you that jocks love a referral. Well that extends to entertainers as well. Sedale was caught up in a love triangle with his wife Nicole, and super producer Dr. Dre. Like most athletes, Sedale had a lot of groupies, which left his wife with the space and opportunity to fall for someone else. Check out this hand written love letter allegedly from Dre to Nicole from 1995 – before text messaging, twitter, emails and Facebook- where he was absolutely hating on the Lakers starting point guard: Dre-nicole-threatt

Nicole, Hopefully you doing well and you realized you need to quit fu*king with Sedale and come home to your doctor. I will take care of you baby girl

Side note, how hot is it that Dre is talking about the “California Love” video – I do have questions though because the date on the letter says Feb.95, and the video was shot in late 95 so the dates are a little tricky.

But, I’m here for iconic moments mixed with snatching up chicks… Love it. Nicole divorced Threatt after three years of marriage and eventually married Dre. They’ve been together for 18 years.   Shout out to @ArtemisGordon
