Celtics forward Jared Sullinger turned himself into police Tuesday morning following an incident between he and his girlfriend on Saturday night/Sunday morning. Sullinger reportedly got into an argument with his girlfriend over cheating and the cell phone. During Tuesday morning’s bail hearing, Sullinger’s girlfriend told the court that he pinned her to the bed and snatched the phone from her as she attempted to call the police. She reported having red marks on her chest but said she didn’t feel in danger and didn’t want a protective order issued.
Jared reportedly flew to Ohio following the incident on a planned trip to see his parents. His girlfriend waited 10 hours after the incident before phoning the police. He’s been released on $5,000 bail and will have to return back to court on September 19th. He is allowed to contact his girlfriend by phone and can see her if someone else is present per Boston Globe reporter Dave Abel.

Sullinger and his girlfriend, Deann Smith have been together since college at Ohio State. This is the second domestic violence incident involving a cell phone and cheating in less than a month. Nuggets guard Ty Lawson and his girlfriend Ashley were both arrested in Denver a few weeks ago.
Oklahoma City Thunder guard DeAndre Liggins was arrested over the weekend for domestic violence also.
