Amar’e Stoudemire cuts hand on fire extinguisher following Knicks loss to Heat [photos]

What followed the Knicks loss to the Miami Heat Monday night pretty much summarizes how this playoff series seems to be going. Amar’e Stoudemire was so frustrated following the loss, he punched a fire extinguisher outside of the Knicks locker room.

Stoudemire received emergency attention while still at the arena but Knicks brass would not reveal how many stitches he received or the extent of the damage to his hand. He left the arena with his left arm in a sling at his hand heavily damaged.

This is the second straight postseason that Stat suffered a self-inflicted injury. Last April, he pulled a muscle in his back while attempting a dunk in warm-ups prior to Game 2 against the Celtics.

It’s been a rough few months for Amar’e. He lost his older brother to a car accident in February, suffered a back injury that caused him to miss several games and now two back-to-back losses in the playoffs. Hitting the extinguisher wasn’t the brightest move, people often complain that pro players have no passion for the game. At least you know he cares. le sigh. Good luck Knicks fans.

It’s probable that Amar’e will miss game 3 and the rest of the series.
