Yankees Alex Rodriguez suspended by MLB for remainder of 2013 and all of 2014 season

It’s official, Major League Baseball has suspended Yankees third-baseman, Alex Rodriguez for the rest of the 2013 season and all of the 2014 season.

… Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig announced today that third baseman Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees has been suspended without pay for the remainder of the 2013 Championship Season and Postseason and the entire 2014 Championship Season for violations of the Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program and the Basic Agreement.

ARod’s suspension is set to begin August 8th but as previously mentioned, he is appealing that decision. He will be represented by David Cornwell, the same lawyer that helped Brewers Ryan Braun become the first to overturn positive test result last season. Not that it ultimately helped too much as Braun was suspended for 65-games two weeks ago.

Earlier today, 12 players were also issued suspension related to PED use.
