Denver Nuggets & Colorado Rockies players honor Aurora theatre victims [photos]

In a move that illustrates grace and class, both the Colorado Rockies and the Denver Nuggets honored the victims of the “theatre shooting” that happened early Friday morning in Aurora, Co. during a midnight showing of the film, ” The Dark Knight Rises. ”

The Rockies wore black wrist bands, wrote “7-20″ on their eye black and hung a black jersey in the dugout that read “we remember 7-20″, while the Denver Nuggets summer league squad donned black headbands:

Nuggets starting power forward Kenneth Faried spoke to NBA.com about the team’s decision to honor the victims.

“We talked about it,” said Faried, the starting power forward last season as the Nuggets pushed the Lakers to seven games in the first round before losing. “It was tragic. It was just terrible for anybody. Even though we don’t live in Colorado, we represent the Denver Nuggets. We’re not from there, but guys still support it….We gave prayers and blessings out to the families,” Faried said after the 95-82 loss to the Trail Blazers at Cox Pavilion, “and we wished the best for everybody.”

The suspect, 24-year old southern California native, James Holmes was apprehended and is currently in police custody.

Prayers for Aurora.
