Thunder star Russell Westbrook is an LA (well Long Beach) native. The passion and intensity in his game came be a subject of contention with many of his critics. But many don’t know the origins of that fire. What drives him to not only be a better player but a better person, the death of his best friend, Khelcey Barrs III. The two had plans of attending UCLA together until Khelcey passed away in May of 2004 after playing in a pick up game from an undiagnosed enlarged heart. Westbrook honors Khelcy by wearing a KB3 band on his right wrist.
