The Portland Trailblazers made a few big moves today including waiving perpetually injured, former number one draft pick Greg Oden. Oden’s knee troubles have been well documented including his most recent microfracture surgery in February.
The Blazers clearly made the decision to completely blow up the team and start fresh. Trading Marcus Camby to the Rockets and Gerald Wallace to the Nets for Shawne Williams and 2 other players. And the firing of their head coach, Nate McMillan
The Blazers acquired guard Jonny Flynn and the expiring contracts of Mehmet Okur, Shawne Williams and Hasheem Thabeet. Waiving Oden and young center Chris Johnson made the roster numbers work.
