Atlanta Hawks forward Thabo Sefolosha was acquitted of criminal charges for resisting arrest earlier this month, stemming from a melee outside of 1OAK nightclub in New York City. Sefolosha suffered a broken leg when cops claimed he was disrupting a police matter. Now he plans to sue the NYPD for “permanent” injuries to the tune of $50 million.
Sefolosha claims he has “become substantially disabled.” The injury caused Sefolosha to miss the NBA playoffs where the Atlanta Hawks were the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.
The physical “damages are permanent in nature and continuing into the future,” according to the notice of claim.
Although Sefolosha is back to dunking Sunday during the Hawks preseason game,
“Unfortunately, he may not be dunking as much as he was before this happened,”
