The 2011 National League MVP, Milwaukee Brewer, Ryan Braun, has been suspended without pay for the rest of the 2013 MLB season for allegedly using performance enhancing drugs. Rumors have been floating around for weeks that a suspension was coming and today, MLB Commissioner Bud Selig made the announcement.
Braun’s suspension begins immediately and will remain in effect for the final 65 games of the season.
Braun released a statement:
Braun allegedly failed a MLB-administered urine test back in 2011 and was facing a 50 game suspension. But a courier’s alleged mistake in the handling of samples before they were tested caused the case to fall apart.
