Kendrick Perkins thinks LeBron James Tweets for attention

OKC Thunder’s Kendrick Perkins is considered one of the NBA’s tough guys. He’s the guy that’s going to take of all the gritty things on the defensive end to make sure that the opposing team knows, there are no easy baskets in the paint. The buzz is still in the air surrounding Blake Griffin’s dunk (or throw in depending whose having the conversation) on him when the Clippers and Thunder faced off recently. Perkins has no regrets about jumping on that play, that’s his job. He’s not concerned with embarrassment. But, he does have a message for LeBron James who took to Twitter and commented following the dunk.

Remember, King James tweeted this.

Perkins felt that was doing too much.

“You don’t see Kobe [Bryant] tweeting,” Perkins said. “You don’t see Michael Jordan tweeting. If you’re an elite player, plays like that don’t excite you. At the end of the day, the guys who are playing for the right reasons who are trying to win championships are not worrying about one play.

“They also are not tweeting about themselves talking about going down to No. 2. I just feel [James] is always looking for attention and he wants the world to like him.”

Interesting, several NBA players as well athletes from other sports added commentary about the dunk. Come on, it’s sports. For Perkins to say he doesn’t care, he certainly sounds a little “concerned” in that statement. Especially considering that he had Twitter for like a week.

But like he said, every player gets embarrassed once in awhile. That’s part of the job.

Still, sets up an interesting subtext if the Heat and Thunder meet in the finals…
