Shaq On Cheating On Ex-Wife Shaunie O’Neal, “I Was Respectful” [Video]

Shaq recently sat down with Robin Roberts of Good Morning America. In addition to showing off his 76,000 square-foot home in Orlando-that includes a 20,000 square-foot basketball court- Shaq discussed his new book which was released Tuesday Shaq Uncut. One of the most interesting parts of the interview concerned Shaq’s 2009 divorce from Shaunie O’Neal. Shaq explains why he feels he was a respectful cheater.

What he said actually makes perfect sense to me. Especially in “that” world. With so many options, a man is likely to sample. For many women, outside of that whole, “being faithful” thing, the biggest issue with cheating is the public humiliation of it all. The guys that learn how to keep those indiscretions in the dark, usually keep all parties happy.

I wonder if he and Hoopz will get married and have more kids.

    I am glad to know Shaq was “respectful.” Just one thought…What do you tell your kids? “Daddy had sex with someone other than mommy, but I was respectful…” Don’t think that will fly.

    That’s not true. Several women have spoken out. Karrine “Superhead” Steffans, another sued him in Atlanta, and one in Miami.

    As for that last part, I’m just going to leave that alone.

    I don’t have a single issue with what he did as long as ALL parties involved knew he was involved in relationships outside his primary marriage. But if he lied to anyone its still CHEATING. Which is by no means respectful to anyone. Besides why are people always so interested in the faults of otherwise normal people just because they are in societies eye someway, be it sorts, politics, or acting?

    I honestly feel that the male species (any of them), are prone to having more than one mate for life. Lions, tigers, bears, Humans?-Oh my. We are animals first, so why do we hold our male species to monogamy, when the other animals do it all the time? Just kidding!
    There is no respectful way to cheat, whether you are a celebrity, or just an ordinary person. Remember that we are animals first-human second. We all have yielded to temptations; however, I agree with Jill when she states, “who I feel holds the weight of the responsibility”.

    If you’re a musician or an athlete, you’re gonna sleep around. If you’re the wife of a musician or athlete, you’d better understand it. I won’t say it’s right to father children at every stop you make… that’s just irresponsible.

    It’s not right to throw it in your wife’s face. I’d hope that before he married Shaunie he told her “While I’m out on the road, I’ll be getting some. And you should get some too while I’m gone. But when we’re home, it’s just you and me.”

    Ain’t nothing wrong with it if both agree.

    *rolls eyes*….my neighbor dated him briefly…he hated her living room furniture, I remember. He got her pregnant…then he paid for the abortion and 6 weeks after that a semi pulled up to her front door with a complete set of living room furniture.
    My cousin dated him during her college years. He flew her and her daughter to NY and took them shopping.
    There’s nothing respectful about what he did, because he wasn’t out in the open with it. He snuck and did it, and everyone knew about it except Shaunie… Remember when Kobe got caught and said he should’ve just done it like Shaq and paid the girl off…him and Shaq never spoke again after that… He embarrassed Shaunie and I think that’s the worst part of it.
