Are you ready to see Lakers star Nick Young acting debut? Swaggy P along with former “Basketball Wives” star Tami Roman have teamed up for a pilot entitled, ‘The Assist.’
The fish-out-of-water comedy is produced by Martin Lawerence’s ex- Shameka Lawerence and publicist Ernest Dukes.
The dramady centers on a charismatic street-smart girl from Brooklyn played by newcomer Paris Phillips – another former cast member of a VH1 reality show – who gets a once in a lifetime opportunity to work for an NBA superstar (Young) after a chance encounter. Tami plays the role of his publicist.
“It’s a different element that I wanted to try. Basketball only lasts for so long so I wanted to branch out and see what else I could do. I don’t want to be [limited] to one category.”
Tami Roman on “The Assist”:
“I wanted to do this project because I read the script and we haven’t had any really good scripted programming in a long time, everything is reality TV. Although I’ve made several checks in that genre, I’m very excited to return back to scripted TV.”
The pilot is currently being pitched to various networks.
