Saturday, May 16th was Janet Jackson’s 49th birthday. She celebrated by giving a present to all of her fans with the announcement of new music, and a new tour.
“I promised you’d hear it from my lips, and now you will,” Jackson said in a voiceover, while an image of her voice waves registered on a studio equalizer. “This year, new music, new world tour, a new movement. I’ve been listening. Let’s keep the conversation going.”
I am seriously excited about this. I know my younger readers are rolling their eyes at the prospect of music and a tour from a 49-year-old woman, but I think its time to move beyond the thought that music is only a young woman’s game.
