The bizarre saga between estranged New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul and the franchise continues to get weirder. On Tuesday, JPP posted a video to his Instagram account showing him working out, and giving everyone the first glimpse of his right hand and missing finger.
The injury occurred during a July 4th fireworks accident. An ESPN report indicated JPP may have also suffered damage to the top of his right thumb and his right middle finger. Those digits are wrapped in the video.
“God can turn any situation around for the better,” JPP wrote. “Your hard times will lead to the best times of your life. Don’t believe the hype … Be back soon!”
JPP has yet to officially re-join the team and it’s still unclear if he’ll be able to contribute to the team this season. He loses $871,000 in salary each week that he doesn’t sign the franchise-tag offer the Giants extended him. Pierre-Paul can still sign his franchise tag, although if he does, the Giants could place him on the non-football injury list, ending his season but giving the club the option to not pay him.
The way things are playing out, seems like a parting of ways is inevitable.
