Chris Bosh Files Suit Against “Basketball Wives” & His Ex, Allison Mathis

I guess Chris Bosh’s Ex, Allison Mathis went forward with her plans to appear on Season 3 of Basketball Wives. Chris Bosh filed a lawsuit on Monday in a federal court in Los Angeles claiming Mathis and production company Shed Media are are trying to unjustly enrich themselves by using Bosh’s name and intruding into his private affairs.

The suit says Mathis was hired to appear in the third season of the VH1 reality show and wants to use it to become a TV star. Bosh seeks damages and an injunction to block her and the media company from trademark infringement by using his name and disclosing private facts about his life.

“Though the reality television show is titled, ‘Basketball Wives,’ the featured women in the show are not the current wives of NBA players,” the lawsuit says. “Instead, the show follows the lives of women who are dating or who dated NBA basketball players or who were formerly married to NBA players. “

It says the show, “provides these women with a vehicle and worldwide platform” to use the names of players without permission for commercial gain.

“Defendant Mathis is attempting to promote her own commercial brand and become a television personality and/or celebrity by exploiting her former relationship with plaintiff,” says the lawsuit.

Those are some pretty strong accusations that Chris is making. The real question is what is he hiding? I understand that he may not want his name associated with the show, this isn’t the first time a cast member’s Ex has blocked that ::cough Dwight Howard::

But, it seems that when they bring these suits it encourages people to go looking around in areas they may not have thought about checking out prior. The new season starts in a few weeks and the playoffs are in full swing. The Heat face the Celtics tonight in game 2.  Chris, enjoy your lovely new wife, you’re daughter is going to be able to read all about this one day. Make sure you handle it in a way that you’ll be able to explain to her one day with no regrets.
