Has your Instagram time line literally been flooded this week with athletes getting buckets of water and ice thrown on them? There’s a method to the madness. The social media phenomenon known as the “Ice Bucket Challenge” is all about spreading awareness and raising money for the ALS Association which fights amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
The challenge works like this, you agree to have water and ice dumped over you, then challenge 3 friends. Those friends have 24 hours to complete the challenge or donate $100 to the ALS Association. Of course athletes have stepped it up and the challenge moved to $10,000. Check out a few videos that include, Team USA Basketball, NBA commissioner Adam Silver, Miami Heat head coach Erik Spolestra, Knicks Carmelo Anthony, Clippers Chris Paul, Washington Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson and more.
