It’s win number 50 for Serena Williams. Williams beat Maria Sharapova 6-1, 6-4 in the final of the Madrid Open Sunday to retain her No. 1 ranking and nab her 50th career title.

Williams also said this red-clay match was a good practice for The French Open which takes place at the end of this month. Last year Sharapova won the French Open with Serena being bounced out in the first round.
