Weekly Rewind: NBA Sportscaster University, Chad’s “Monster Ball,” & Vine Pays

Check out some of the stories that didn’t make it to #JSJ this week:

  • Chad Johnson is a Twitter lothario. This week, he decided to share what he uses to hook the ladies on Instagram… I guess it came “up” while he was watching Halle Berry in “Monster’s Ball”… only Chad.

  • Vine sensation Lil Terrio continues his world take over. The 1st/2nd grader made an appearance at the Drew League last weekend. His Instagram feed also announced that a new TV show is headed our way soon. He signed with Hollywood heavy-hitters William Morris Endeavor. Don’t be mad, you created this.

  • The NBA Players Association wants to help its players transition into the next phase of their career. This week SportsCaster University was in session. Seems as if the post-career trajectory of many current athletes lies in commentating. But those roles are limited, so this course gives players a leg up on the competition. Working with a green screen, teleprompters, practicing those play-by-play skills and on camera interviews are just some of the activities the players went through. Some of the names in attendance; Kris Humphries, Shannon Brown, Al Harrington, Richard Hamilton, Drew Gooden & Jerryd Bayliss

  • Athletes who live in a different city from the one they play in have a big real estate decision to make. Do they rent in that city or buy a home? If they decide to buy and are later cut, traded or retired, what do you do with the property? You can use it as income generating property. That’s what former Steelers player DeShea Towensend did. But then, you get a call that the new tenants were operating a major drug operation out of your property.

Law enforcement and the DEA seized 1,500 bricks of heroin (75,000 stamped bags), 16 firearms, more than $100,000 in cash and jewelry, two luxury vehicles, Cuban cigars and a live chicken.

I just want to know what the plan was for the live chicken?

  • Forbes dropped its list of 2014’s Highest paid athletes. Floyd “MONEY” Mayweather Jr. Takes the top spot.

  • Floyd Also dropped some advice to the ladies on his Instagram.

He sort of contradicted himself but I appreciate the thought. I wonder how often he uses this approach in his own dating life?

So what have we learned? Doing it for the Vine can get you on TV, NBA players have goals too and Chad is truly an Instagram honey/Twitter Vixen
