Superfly is a remake of the 1972 blaxploitation classic starring Trevor Jackson as Priest, a drug dealer planning one last score before going straight. The remake updates the story, bringing it firmly into the 21st century Atlanta strip club culture with a soundtrack to match produced by chart-topping hit maker Future.
Priest’s 2018 reimagined universe was created by Director X- the legendary music video director (Drake, Rihanna, Ciara, Nikki Minaj) – and a screenplay by Alex Tse. The film also stars Jason Mitchell (Straight Outta Compton, The Chi,) Michael K. Williams (The Wire, Boardwalk Empire,) and Lex Davis Scott as Georgia.
EURWeb’s Jill Munroe sat down with the cast and director to talk about updating a classic, working together and the film’s steamy sex scenes. Jackson said he wasn’t nervous about the complexities of one scene in particular that takes place in the shower as he’s had “lots of practice.”
