Nelly has been arrested on charges of felony drug possession after his tour bus was pulled over in Tennessee.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol released a statement Saturday confirming that the tour bus Nelly was traveling in was pulled over Saturday morning, because it didn’t display a U.S. Department of Transportation and International Fuel Tax Association sticker.
The officer was issuing a ticket when he reportedly smelled marijuana. A search turned up five rocks that tested positive for meth, a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and handguns.
This might feel like a “do-over” for fans of the rapper. In 2012, 36 small bags of heroin and over ten pounds of marijuana plus a loaded .45 caliber pistol were found on his tour bus. At that time one of the 7 men on the bus, Brian Jones, took ownership of all the items and Nelly and his 5 other friends were released. Jones was also on the bus Saturday, and was taken into custody.
Nelly, real name Cornell Haynes, is scheduled to appear in court on June 19th. His BET reality show, “Welcome to Nellyville” that features Floyd Mayweather’s ex, Shantel Jackson, begins it’s second season May 5th.
