Monday night I attended the Premiere event at the SLS Beverly Hills for BET’s newest docu-series, #TheWestBrooks. The show is about five “Insta-famous” sisters from Compton, Ca. who have become social media stars, amassing more than 2 million followers.
Sisters India, Crystal, Morgan, Bree and Brooke were on hand to celebrate the launch of the show.
India is the youngest, and likely the one you are most familiar with as she’s been linked to rappers The Game and Soulja Boy.
Crystal is a self proclaimed hippie and a model. She has her own hip-hop ties, as she was rumored to one of Drake’s paramours.
Morgan was actually the first WestBrook sister I became familiar with back in the MySpace days. Morgan’s social media handle is @Mommyistatted. I asked Morgan about athletes and rappers deep diving into her DM’s:
Jill: I’m sure you have a lot of guys shooting their shot in your DM’s, whose approach is crazier, rappers or athletes?
Morgan: Rappers without a doubt. It’s probably because of their lifestyle. They just get right to it.
I also asked what made The WestBrooks decide to do a reality show and what did they hope to show fans by opening up their lives on camera.
Morgan: We want to show that we’re real people, we’re just like you. We go through things and we’re human. We’ve dealt with a lot of hate over the years, I hope I can help someone going through some of the same things.
In addition to a passion for bikes, Morgan is also embarking on a music career as a budding rapper. And as a quick side note, Morgan is single but has a potential new boo in former NBA player Rashad McCants.
He was in the building Monday night also. If you recall, Rashad dated Khloe Kardashian before she and Lamar Odom hooked up.
Episode one areas on BET Wednesday, October 14th at 10:00 PM.
And in case you were wondering, those photos of India and Game are addressed in episode one.
