Kehlani Says She And Kyrie Irving Aren’t In Love

Back in December of 2015, we dropped the news that Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving and singer Kehlani had started dating. The two decided to let the Instagram world in on the secret in January.

But before you start thinking that the Cavs are going to have matching R&B boos for their guards – Iman Shumpert is engaged to singer/actress Teyana Taylor– The 20-year-old says she’s not in love. That she and Kyrie are taking this slow.

 “Am I in love? No, no, no, no, no. It’s very early. He definitely makes me very happy,” she says. “I’ve taken it day by day, and enjoying every little bit. I think I’m trying not to get too excited or get too crazy about the hype of everything.”

That’s probably a smart move. She’s just breaking into his career and he’s still early in his. Plus, Kyrie is a new dad – his daughter was born last November to a former Texas beauty queen – they both have a lot on their plates. In fact, Kehlani says because they’re in the spotlight, it’s more cause for concern.

It is hard, but I think being in my situation…When in the limelight, and especially when it’s another person that’s in the limelight, it can get complicated real fast because not every relationship has millions of people tuning in or commenting every day. You have to make sure everything is communicated and solid, and that you’re happy, most of all.

Her main goal for her relationship? “I’m just trying to be regular and grow with him as a human. Very regular and very human.”
