Wednesday nights in LA, the best pure run in basketball is taking place and you don’t even know. Air West is where NBA pros, Overseas athletes and college players all meet to play just for the love of the game. There’s no crowd, they aren’t being paid to show up, its just passion.
Over the past few weeks, Houston Rockets All-Star James Harden, Toronto Raptors All-Star DeMar DeRozan, Overseas standouts; Orlando Johnson and Bobby Brown plus college standouts Daniel Hamilton of UCONN and Stanley Johnson of Arizona are just a few of the names that have taken the court at Air West.
I had the opportunity to check out the invite only run, put together by two LA basketball OG’s Keion Kindred and Chris Young. The competition is intense, one pro – DeMar DeRozan – kicked a ball against the wall in frustration after a game went into overtime. Another was ready to throw blows. That’s the type of emotions that are being left on the court. You never know week to week whose going to show up and test their skills.
Want to keep up with the run? Follow AirWest on Instagram and stay tuned for the YouTube channel that will be dropping weekly highlights.
