It’s been a rough year for the Sixers organization. Bringing Andrew Bynum in via trade was supposed to build on what the Sixers started last season, going into the second round of the playoffs and place them as one of the elite teams in the East. Obviously that didn’t happen. Rumors have been buzzing that head coach Doug Collins wouldn’t return next season for the final year of his deal. On Sunday, it was confirmed that Doug has informed the organization that he’s done when the season ends this week.
Per Yahoo sports, it’s possible that Collins will return to the franchise in another role, likely in the front office. According to my sources, The players didn’t connect with Doug this season and Andrew Bynum was never interested in playing for the Collins. The team has a huge decision to make with Bynum, resign him for a year and try this experiment all over again? Or simply rebuild from scratch. There are several free agents on the roster including Nick Young and Dorell Wright. The two were acquired to put shooters around Bynum and to allow point guard Jrue Holiday several weapons both inside and out as targets.
