Shaquille O’Neal once famously referred to the Sacramento Kings as “Queens” during those epic playoff battles between the Kings and Lakers in the early 00’s. But now Shaq is one of the minority owners of the franchise.
The Kings were sold back in May, and were just recently voted as the worst franchise-including NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL- by ESPN. Shaq addressed that too:
“Worst is at the bottom, which means you can’t get no worser,” he said of the Kings’ ranking. “There’s no such thing as worser, which means we can only get better. And we will get better. Once that new arena comes, once that new downtown is up, once we have a conversation with the players and get everybody to step up, they’ll be knocking on the door.
Random observation, Kenny Smith has expressed an interest in a front office position and also used to play for the Kings franchise. Let’s see how this all plays out.
