President Obama says he probably wouldn’t let his son play football

The game of football as we know it is undergoing a change. Know one is really sure what the game will look like 5 – 10 years from now as the link between CTE and concussions continues to be explored. One famous fan of the game has admitted that if he had a son, he probably wouldn’t allow him to hit the gridiron. President Obama discussed the current state of football.

I’m a big football fan, but I have to tell you if I had a son, I’d have to think long and hard before I let him play football.‘And I think that those of us who love the sport are going to have to wrestle with the fact that it will probably change gradually to try to reduce some of the violence,’’ Obama said.

‘‘In some cases, that may make it a little bit less exciting, but it will be a whole lot better for the players, and those of us who are fans maybe won’t have to examine our consciences quite as much.’’

Will it be a new helmet, a radical revision of the rules or something else? What do you think the game of football looks like in the future?
