This has got to be cruelty at it’s finest. The NFL is a business. Totally get that mantra but, waiving players the night before the Super Bowl?!? That’s got to be a special type of wrong.
The night before Super Bowl XLVI, the Patriots released receiver Tiquan Underwood and moved defensive end Alex Silvestro from the practice squad. If it’s a move based on an injury, is it something that you just discovered the DAY BEFORE THE SUPER BOWL? You allow him to do everything that has to do with the big game except play.
Underwood had become a fan favorite, his High Top Fade even includes a Patriots logo shaved into the back. He handled the decision with grace and class this is what he tweeted.
“This Is Nothing But MOTIVATION,” Underwood tweeted. “I Been Thru A LOT…But There Are people In This World with More Serious Problems So I can’t Hang The Head….Thank You Lord #Blessed.”
“Good Luck To The New England Organization, The Coaches, & All My Teammates… #PatsNation.”
Business is business but it seems like a special type of karma might result from making a move like this. What’s even crazier, this is the third time this season he’s been cut. I guess we’ll know tomorrow how savvy a move it was.
