Looks like we’ll be seeing the superstar tandem of Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant for many years in OKC. Yahoo sports Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Thunder and Westbrook have agreed to a 5-year extension worth $80 Million. I personally am excited to see the Thunder’s core locked down. While several people will point to the reported issues between KD and Russ, the two have always maintained that there are no problems and love playing together.
Thunder GM Sam Presti praised “Russell’s work ethic, persistence, character and involvement in community.” It’s just a matter of time until the two are hoisting up the Larry O’Brien trophy. Jury is still out on who would be the MVP. Maybe it’s time for finals co-MVP’s. Just a little joke. For now anyway.
The Thunder are planning an official news conference to announce the extension when they return from their road trip this weekend.
