The Thunder have another player that there were in the process of working on an extension with, Point guard Eric Maynor. Maynor is obviously going to have an expanded role with the departure of James Harden. It was one he was starting to become comfortable with before a knee injury sidelined him last season. The two sides have agreed to table contract talks until next July.
What will the market be like next July for Maynor? Leave me a few thoughts below but for now, let’s check the reality of Maynor’s situation with the Thunder. Russell Westbrook is the starting point guard. That’s not changing but with Harden gone, that back up spot of the bench is now up for grabs. Maynor’s only competition is second year guard Reggie Jackson. How’s Maynor’s knee? It looked pretty good in preseason and Maynor clearly is focused on sharpening his game. Guess where he was last night?
