New Orleans Hornets- shortly to be known as Pelicans- unveil new logo for 2013 season [photo]

It’s official, the New Orleans Hornets will be known as the New Orleans Pelicans next season. The official unveiling of the new logo and colors happened today. Red, blue and gold are the color scheme and a menacing – cut me some slack, I’m trying to buy into the notion that them selecting the new moniker is cool – Pelican.

I still don’t like it. But, all is not lost for fans of the Hornet nickname. It might be making a return to it’s Charlotte roots. The Bobcats are currently conducting market research on the effects of changing their names to the Hornets. The bottom line as to if it will happen or not lies in one particular question of the survey,

“If the Bobcats were to change their nickname to the ‘Hornets,’ would you attend more games than you currently do, attend fewer games, or attend about the same amount?”

At least the Sonics are coming back to the NBA… Wait, not if Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson can help it. But that’s a topic for later.

Go Pelicans!!

Nope still hate it.
