Michael Jordan needs no introduction. His accolades in basketball are the bar for which most players set as the standard for excellence.His foray into the executive suite started out shaky with the Wizards, but Jordan has rebounded nicely into the role as owner with the Charlotte Hornets.
And with that, we have to add another accolade to the MJ legacy. Forbes magazine revealed its 29th annual World’s Billionaires List, and Jordan has made the cut. Jordan joins other sports franchise owners including, Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer and Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trail Blazers owner Paul Allen.
Jordan’s estimated net worth of $1 billion earns him the position of the 1,741st richest person in the world. His portfolio includes; $100 million a year off royalties from the Jordan brand and the Hornets with a Forbes estimated worth of $700 million.
Jordan is the first professional athlete to reach billionaire status in the US.
