Michael Jordan Fined $100K By The NBA

The NBA was serious about fining any of it’s employees if they spoke about the lockout or it’s players. Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan was fined $100,000 by the NBA for making public comments about the current league lockout.

In an interview with the Herald Sun newspaper in Australia last month, Jordan mentioned the need for revenue sharing in the NBA and used Milwaukee Bucks- an Australia native- Andrew Bogut as an example.

“We need a lot of financial support throughout the league as well as revenue sharing to keep this business afloat.

“We have stars like Bogut who are entitled to certain type of demands. But for us to be profitable in small markets, we have to be able to win ballgames and build a better basketball team.”

The struggle between big market teams and their smaller market counterparts isn’t something that’s been discussed a great deal during this lockout. It’s an area that should be explored, if the owners are so enamored with the idea of hard caps, non guaranteed deals and other methods employed by the NFL, why not revenue sharing?
