The Miami Heat is working on a multi-year extension for head coach Erik Spoelstra. Following three NBA Finals appearances which netted to championships, the Heat are putting things in place to keep Spo in the fold for years to come. Spo is currently the second longest tenured coach in the NBA. He became the head coach of the Heat in 2008.
There have also been a few changes to his coaching staff. Former Assistant coach Keith Askins is now the Director of College and Pro scouting, and former Heat player Juwan Howard is now an Assistant Coach with the team.
The Heat open training camp Tuesday in the Bahamas.
