Magic Johnson and Dodgers Star Matt Kemp grace the cover of Sports Illustrated. In this issue, Magic discusses what the new ownership group can do to bring Dodger fans back to the team.
“When fans fall in love with their teams, it’s not just because they’re winning. It’s also because they are part of their community,” said Johnson. “That’s where we lost our way a little bit. We need to sign autographs. We need to give to charity. We need to embrace our community again.”
The issue is being released on the heels of another beating at Dodger stadium following a game where four men beat up another man from a minor fender bender. The men have been arrested but there are no plans for felony charges.
On the positive side of things, the Dodgers currently lead the NL West and are expecting Matt back soon!
