King Petty Wap: Panthers Mike Tolbert Pays For Car Repairs In Change

Carolina Panthers fullback Mike Tolbert handled a grievance with a car shop by flexing his full petty. Tolbert says he took his 1975 Caprice to Motion Lab Tuning for repairs. The dispute is over the alleged quoted price and time frame of completion.

Tolbert says he was quoted a price along with a 10-day time of completion.  Two and a half months later, Tolbert says the work still isn’t done, and  that the price has since changed because of his day job. Tolbert posted his experience to his Instagram page and things went left from there.

Queen City and surrounding areas!!!! If you need any motor work or anything done to your car I urge you DO NOT I repeat DO NOT go to this place! I was quoted a price and a 10 day completion time frame!!! 2 1/2 months later still not done and upped the price from the original quote! Terrible business and owner! I expected a level of professionalism that I did not receive and the owner expected me to pay more because I’m “a millionaire”!!!! Charlotte be aware they are crooks to the fullest extent!!!

The owner of the shop fired back with a Facebook post, saying Tolbert wanted the work done for free because of his NFL status. Motion Lab also says Tolbert and his friend threatened them and that’s why they called the police.  The cops ordered Tolbert to pay his bill before banning him from the property, so Tolbert went to the bank and paid in coins!

“Pretty dumb really. All $3,900 in coins were easily identifiable as they came from a bank in boxes and perfectly counted out. I will say this, those coins will be taken in the boxes they came in and will be taken to a teller at BOA for deposit.”

Tolbert later spoke to TMZ Sports about the incident and said he tried to pay with a check, but the shop said they would only take cash. Tolbert said oh we talking petty… It is at that point he says he went to the bank and got the coins.  Tolbert also says he never threatened anyone, but firmly believes he was intentionally overcharged by more than $1,000 because he’s an NFL player.

He also stated that the car still isn’t running correctly and he’ll take it to another shop for more repairs and has threatened legal action against Motion Labs if they further slander him.
