So here’s an a stat I bet you weren’t expecting to hear. Guess who had the number one selling jersey on NBA.com on Tuesday? Not LeBron, or Kevin Durant or James Harden, Jason Collins.
Collins signed a 10-day contract with the Nets on Sunday, making his debut the first time an openly gay man hit the court in history. He will wear number 98 in memory of Mathew Shepard, a teen that was murder in Colorado in 1998 because of his sexuality.
I’m still not convinced Collins is going to add value to the Nets. Collins is 34-years-old, and a career 3.6 points and 3.8 rebounds guy. Last season, 1 point, 1 rebound per game. What he can provide is another five fouls that you can throw in the game to get your bigs some rest.
