Are you ready to see ESPN NBA analyst Jalen Rose star in an ABC comedy? Rose will star in the half-hour pilot project titled Jalen vs. Everybody. No doubt the title is a shout out to his hometown of Detroit.
Per Variety, the show will follow Rose as a single father juggling his career and fatherhood. The show will also have two comedy veterans flanking the former NBA star, Anna Maria Horsford – Friday, Amen and Marla Gibbs – 227, and the 70’s classic, The Jeffersons – have signed on to play Rose’s mother and grandmother, respectively.
The project hails from the team behind ABC’s “Fresh Off the Boat.” Nahnatchka Khan wrote the pilot and will executive produce with Rose also serving as a producer. Khan’s brother Nick, reps Jalen at CAA.
In addition to hosting two national primetime shows, ABC and ESPN’s NBA Countdown and Jalen & Jacoby on SiriusXM. Jalen is also an author and was the executive producer of ESPN’s Fab Five 30-for-30. ESPN is owned by Disney/ABC. Connections matter!
