Donald Trump Says People Should Boycott The NFL and A Message For Steph Curry

Donald Trump Says NFL Players Should Be Fired

You know how a lot of people have been telling athletes and sports analyst to “stick to sports,” maybe someone can tell Donald Trump to stick to politics. At a rally unrelated to sports in Huntsville, Alabama, Trump decided to bring up the NFL.

During what was supposed to be a rally for Sen. Luther Strange, Trump decided to ask the crowd if they would “love” seeing NFL players fired for kneeling during the national anthem. He didn’t specifically name any players.

“love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now, he’s fired?’”

He also encouraged fans to boycott the league over the protests. But he wasn’t done there. On Friday, the Golden State Warriors opened training camp with media day. Steph Curry was asked by ESPN’s Rachel Nichols if he would go to the White House for the team’s championship celebration. Steph’s response was NO.

Trump got wind of Steph’s comments and hopped on Twitter early Saturday morning to un-invite the NBA’s first unanimous MVP.

The NFL released a statement addressing the President’s speech.

Of course many NFL players, sports analysts, etc. all had something to add on Trump weighing in on this topic, including ESPN’s Jemele Hill, who was recently in a storm of controversy after her tweets about Trump.

NBPA managing director Michele Roberts tweeted that this was a “badge of honor” for Steph Curry to be uninvited.

Head over to page 2 to see her tweets and other sports stars supporting Curry and Kaepernick including Seattle Seahawks Richard Sherman and LeBron James.
