Donald Sterling isn’t going to leave the NBA quietly. Sterling has once again flip flopped and resumed the position that he is NOT selling the Clippers and will sue the NBA.
Legally, Sterling is in the proverbial corner. 1. His suit has little chance because he agreed – on several occasions – to the NBA’s bylaws. 2. His wife has taken control of the Sterling trust because his mental capabilities having been diminished. That allows his wife to control the decisions of the trust alone. 3. In the sale, the NBA was granted indemnity by Shelly Sterling, so essentially he’d be suing himself.
Pride is a hell of a drug.
