Did Baltimore Ravens Execs Attempt to Cover Up Ray Rice Incident?

The Baltimore Ravens organization is up next on the Summer Jam screen. ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” have uncovered information that says the Ravens knew what was on the tape the entire time, and allegedly conspired to cover things up.

Ray Rice obviously meant a great deal as a player to the Ravens organization. So it seems they tried to show their loyalty to him by ensuring that he got a light punishment and hopefully avoiding having the world see what was really happened inside the elevator.

But within hours of the elevator attack, an employee of the Ravens was describing the inside-elevator video to friends in graphic detail, telling confidants that Rice knocked out his then-fiancée with a punch and that the video was “really bad,” according to a source close to a Ravens official.

Head coach John Harbaugh reportedly wanted Rice cut as soon as the initial TMZ video was released in February. But others didn’t want to move as quickly. The other allegations in the “Outside the piece:

– Ravens knew within hours of the incident what happened inside.

– Pushed the DA for a light sentence, program as opposed to jail time.

– Convinced Commissioner Roger Goodell to go light on Rice with a two game suspension.

According to sources close to Rice, Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti sent him a text message offering him a future job.

Hey Ray, just want to let you know, we loved you as a player, it was great having you here. Hopefully all these things are going to die down. I wish the best for you and Janay.

When you’re done with football, I’d like you to know you have a job waiting for you with the Ravens helping young guys getting acclimated to the league.
