NBA Commissioner David Stern warned owners last summer that speaking out about the lockout could be cause for a million dollar fine. When you saw the tweets from Miami Heat owner Micky Arison this weekend, it was pretty clear who the first recipient would be.
Stern has fined Arison $500,000 for his mini Twitter rant that touched on the topics of greedy NBA franchise owners not named Micky holding up the lockout and his thoughts on LA Clippers owner, Donald Sterling. David Stern has been trying to pitch the owners as a united front but Arison’s tweet said volumes about what’s really going on with the owners. There’s dissention on both sides, we’re just waiting for one to crack.
