Brooklyn Nets CEO Brett Yormark gives internship to college student he met on the street [video]

The Brooklyn Nets are trying to set a new standard in the NBA. Heavy on marketing and splash with lots of pop culture influence from one hip-hops reigning kings- Jay-Z, duh – the Nets are also taking a new approach to sourcing interns.

College student Vivek Shah was hanging out near Rockafeller Center in Manhattan when he spotted Brooklyn Nets CEO Brett Yormark leaving a sushi lunch with the Russian basketball team. Shah recognized Yormark, tells him what a huge Nets fans he is and asks to get a picture with him. Yormark invites him back to the Nets new headquarters for a tour, and while there he gives the guy some new Nets gear — and an internship in their finance department.

The lesson in this, always be prepared and if you see someone you admire on the street. Speak up, you never know what can come of that random connection.
