Looks like the Denver Nuggets have found their guy. Former Laker and Indiana Pacers assistant coach Brian Shaw is expected to be announced as the Nuggets new head coach later today (Tuesday.)
Shaw also interviewed for the Clippers head coach position which has been awarded – but yet to be approved by the NBA- to Doc Rivers who was the Celtics lead for the past 10 seasons. Shaw has indicated he won’t focus on the triangle offense but plans to use it in some spots.
Shaw is best known for his playing days with the Lakers and his time as an assistant coach under Phil Jackson from 2005 to 2011, a great deal of the Pacers success has been attributed to Shaw while working with Pacers head coach Frank Vogel the last two seasons. Indiana pushed the defending champion Miami Heat to seven games in the Eastern Conference semifinals this season, and he has received significant credit for the development of young players like Paul George and Lance Stephenson. He won five championships combined as a player and coach while with the Lakers.
