The Charlotte Bobcats will be dumping that name and returning to the city’s roots using the Hornets nickname beginning next season. The Michael Jordan owned franchise is not only taking back the name – which became available once the New Orleans franchise dropped it to become the Pelicans – they’re also renewing the purple and teal color scheme associated with the original 1998 – 2002 teams that featured Larry Johnson, Mugsy Bogues and Alonzo Mourning.
