Suns Channing Frye & Sportiqe team up to raise awareness for Congenital Heart Disease

Valentine’s day is usually reserved for lovers but Phoenix Suns’s Channing Frye and lifestyle brand Sportiqe have put a twist on the holiday with their new One Heart tee to raise money for Congenital Heart Disease testing in young athletes.

Frye is missing this current NBA season do to the discovery of a dilated cardiomyopath, an enlarged heart, which was discovered in preseason during a routine physical. Frye isn’t the only one has encountered a congenital heart condition in the NBA. Both Jeff Green and Chris Wilcox have been diagnosed with conditions in the past year.

*Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) is a category of heart disease that includes abnormalities in cardiovascular structures that occur before birth but rarely diagnosed as the symptoms may not appear right away. These defects occur while the fetus is developing in the uterus and may affect approximately 1 in 100 children. About 500,000 adults in the U.S. have CHD and most sudden deaths in athletes were attributable to CHD (56% according to the American Heart Association).
