Last July, Dwyane Wade’s publicist sent out a press release announcing that his six-year divorce from Siohvaughn Funches had been finalized. Siohvaughn sent me text – we were in frequent contact at the time as I interviewed her a few months earlier and she would update me on the case – stating that she was not accepting the divorce and that she had more legal proceedings planned, because she felt she had been treated unfairly because of DWade’s celebrity status.
Do you remember two years ago when the Miami Heat were on the brink of their first NBA title in the “Big 3” era? There was a huge story about Dwyane Wade dealing with drama Father’s Day weekend because Sio allegedly attempted to kidnap their two sons? That’s the catalyst for this lawsuit.
Siohvaughn has filed a federal lawsuit against her ex-husband’s divorce attorney and Dolton Police, alleging they framed her for child abduction. In the lawsuit, Funches claims she was “violently attacked” by Dolton cops at her south suburban home.
The lawsuit, which seeks unspecified damages in excess of $50,000
Meanwhile, DWade is set to married Gabrielle Union August 30th in Miami. For those that are curious, Siohvaughn is in a new relationship also.
