In an interview with the New York Times, Shaquille O’Neal admits he wants to one day own an NBA franchise and hopefully bring them to Newark, New Jersey.
Although Shaq says he hasn’t spoken to Newark’s Mayor Booker yet, he says he know’s Newark can support an N.B.A. team. And Shaq wants to be the one responsible for bringing the team in.
With all the hoopla surrounding the Nets move to Brooklyn, does anyone feel New Jersey will miss having a team? Are there enough “fans” (that really means dollars, right) in the area to support another publicly funded arena? That’s an assumption. Considering the alleged state of the NBA, why are so many still trying to get in?
And in old beef revisited #999, Shaq responded to Kobe’s jab about liking players who Practice, with this response:
“I don’t need to work out,” O’Neal said when asked about Bryant’s comments. “My numbers speak for itself. My three finals MVP’s speaks for itself.”
Did you expect him to say anything else?
