ESPN’s NBA countdown show may have lost Magic Johnson, but it looks as if it will finally have a proper host this season. According to Deadspin, “SportsCenter” anchor Sage Steele has been offered the role. Sage hasn’t accepted yet and is currently entering the last year of her contract with ESPN.
The countdown show has gone through yet another recent shuffle with Mike Wilborn’s role being reduced and several analyst shuffling through the chairs. The two mainstays of the program being Jalen Rose and Bill Simmons. There were rumors that Simmons increased input was behind Magic’s recent decision to leave the show but Simmons says the rumors are false and his impact on the show’s participants has been exaggerated.
Steele’s addition should make Rose happy. If you recall a few years back the two had a flirty exchange on air when they thought the cameras were off.
